Picture this: you wake up in the morning, and you’re ready to start the day. You walk to your bathroom mirror and to your surprise, you see yesterday’s makeup still on your face. Ring any bells? Makeup is such a chore to wash off, especially if the products you use are meant to be long-lasting. However, if you don’t take off your makeup before you go to bed, your skin may suffer because of it, and a smudged pillow will be the least of your concerns. Worst case scenario, you start to regularly use a lot of makeup to cover up certain skin issues that could have been avoided had you removed your makeup in the first place.

Fortunately, you don’t have to give up makeup altogether when you know how to wash it off quickly and easily. These 3 aloe vera makeup remover remedies found below are a must if you love your makeup but don’t enjoy the cleanup process. You don’t need those fancy store-brand wipes either. Instead, you can rely on natural ingredients like aloe vera to get rid of your makeup, cleanse your skin, and promote glowing skin in the process.

1. Aloe Vera Makeup Remover Remedy to Unclog Pores & Eliminate Dullness

Even if your makeup is all-natural (which it should be), leaving it on overnight is never a good idea because makeup can clog your pores. If you sleep with your makeup on, you may wake up and see that your skin looks duller as a result. Of course, makeup may make your face look brighter and more colorful, but it will only serve as a temporary measure.

To unclog your pores, alleviate dullness, and remove your makeup at the same time, you should use aloe vera. Many people associate aloe vera with its hydrating and healing properties, but it can cleanse your skin, too. When you massage aloe vera into your skin, it can deeply penetrate your skin and start unclogging your pores, which helps clean your face and make it look more glowing.

Notes

Please do not get any of these home remedies into your eyes when you use them on your skin.

"This [Nut Shell Facial Scrub] is really great, especially before I apply makeup, that’s my favorite [time] to use this; about 15-20 minutes before I apply my makeup, I will go ahead and use this exfoliator...This [Turmeric Facial Cleanser] is probably one of my favorites out of this entire collection. It’s just so good for removing makeup, for removing dirt; it 100% cleans your face, doesn’t leave any residue, or anything like that, behind...I love this Rose Dew [Facial Toner]...I will put it on over my foundation, over all of my makeup. It works so beautifully for just refreshing and brightening the skin. I love this product; it’s so good. This is one of my favorites..."

2. Aloe & Jojoba Oil Makeup Remover Remedy to Diminish Acne Spots

Another reason to wipe your makeup off before bed? Less acne. When your pores are clogged, they are trapping any dirt, oil, dead cells, and bacteria within them. If bacteria are allowed to grow within your pores, they can inflame the skin and lead to the development of acne, blackheads, and whiteheads. If you constantly rely on your makeup to cover up any acne spots, blackheads, or whiteheads, you should know that this isn’t the answer. Rather, if you think your acne and your makeup use are related, you must take the time every night to remove your makeup.

For those of you who want clean, acne-free skin, this particular makeup remover remedy is perfect for you because it contains jojoba oil. In addition to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, jojoba oil can mimic sebum, which is an oil that your skin naturally produces. Sebum is a necessity for your skin’s nourishment, but too much of it may clog your pores. Jojoba oil, however, can signal to your skin to stop producing an excess amount of sebum, which can eventually lead to less oiliness, fewer clogged pores, and less acne.

3. Aloe & Rosewater Makeup Remover Remedy to Tighten Pores & Firm Up Skin

After you take your makeup off at night, there’s no reason why your face shouldn’t look stunning without it. Therefore, you should use a facial toner after you wipe your makeup off and wash your face. Toners can help remove makeup on your skin; while facial cleansers do most of the heavy lifting, toners can eliminate any excess residue left on your face. More importantly, toners are known for their ability to close open pores. Smaller pores can help you achieve a tight, firm, and more youthful complexion.

Many store-bought toners are alcohol-based, which may lead to excess dryness. However, rosewater is a natural ingredient that can tone your skin due to its astringent and antibacterial properties. By using rosewater to take off your makeup, your face will not only be clean but it will also look fresher and more glowing.

Ingredients

1 tbsp. of aloe juice

2 tbsp. of rosewater

10 drops of your favorite Apsara cleanser

Instructions

Mix the ingredients together.

Apply the mixture on your skin. Using circular strokes, take off your makeup with a cotton ball.

Wash your face with your Apsara cleanser and warm water. Follow with your daily skin care routine.

Use when needed.
