One of the most reliable natural ingredients that we can’t stop using is turmeric, with good reason. Of the many skin benefits associated with turmeric, some of our favorites include its ability to improve skin glow, reduce the appearance of unsightly blemishes, and contribute to a more ageless complexion. Because of turmeric’s versatility, we love thinking of different creative ways to add this natural ingredient into a home remedy. One of those ways, which we will detail below, is a turmeric face scrub.

Here are 3 turmeric face scrub remedies that you can use to exfoliate your skin and remove dead cells. Although turmeric is not capable of exfoliating your skin by itself, it does pair well with naturally exfoliating ingredients like brown sugar and sea salt. As a result, turmeric may enhance the effects of exfoliation so that the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles is far less pronounced. If you have turmeric in your kitchen, you should not miss out on any of these amazing face scrub remedies.

1. Turmeric Face Scrub to Eliminate the Appearance of Blemishes & Wrinkles

In case you don’t know what turmeric can do for your skin, here’s a simple refresher. Turmeric is renowned for its anti-aging and beautifying properties because it contains a special compound called curcumin. Curcumin is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. Without antioxidants, our bodies would be overrun with free radicals, which are capable of damaging our skin cells and lead to more blemishes, lines, and wrinkles. Moreover, too much inflammation can make our skin rougher, more uneven, more irritated, and less healthy. Thankfully, turmeric can put a stop to those issues so that our skin continues to look fresh, glowing, and ageless.

Ingredients

10 drops of fresh lemon juice

⅛ tsp. of turmeric powder

1 tbsp. of powdered brown sugar

3 tbsp. of rosehip oil

Instructions

Mix the ingredients together.

Apply and scrub your skin using gentle circular strokes for 3 to 5 minutes.

Wash the scrub off with warm water. Follow with your toner, serum, and lotion.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

2. Turmeric & Brown Sugar Face Scrub to Exfoliate Dead Cells Easily

Although turmeric is capable of bestowing many perks towards your skin, it’s not built to exfoliate your skin. However, when you have powdered brown sugar, all you need to do is combine the two ingredients in order to continue receiving turmeric’s amazing benefits. Plus, brown sugar is a fantastic exfoliant that is no slouch when it comes to skin care. This natural ingredient is composed of tiny crystals; when you scrub your skin with brown sugar, those crystals work to gently remove dead cells on your skin and promote the growth of newer, more youthful cells to replace them. Too many dead cells accumulating on the surface of your skin may result in acne and blemishes, but using a turmeric-based brown sugar scrub on your skin can get remove those dead cells in a snap. If you exfoliate your skin regularly, you might see your skin look softer and more youthful.

Ingredients

⅛ tsp. of turmeric powder

⅛ tsp. of apple cider vinegar (ACV)

⅛ tsp. of apple juice

1 tbsp. of powdered brown sugar

3 tbsp. of wheat germ oil

Instructions

3. Turmeric and Sea Salt Scrub for Glowing, Even Skin

Turmeric and face scrubs go hand in hand because both can improve skin glow. Turmeric has been used for thousands of years in Ayurveda for its ability to brighten up skin; this is likely due to the antioxidants and curcumin found in turmeric. Meanwhile, exfoliation with a face scrub helps remove dead skin cells that could be causing dullness and unevenness. As a result, combining the two is simply an ideal choice.

If you don’t have powdered brown sugar, you can use sea salt as a substitute. Although brown sugar is gentler on your skin, sea salt still does a fine job of exfoliating your skin. In fact, you may prefer sea salt over brown sugar because of sea salt’s antibacterial and detoxifying properties.

Ingredients

⅛ tsp. of turmeric powder

1 tbsp. of fine sea salt

3 tbsp. of almond oil

Instructions

Mix the ingredients together.

Apply and scrub your skin using gentle circular strokes for 3 to 5 minutes.

Wash the scrub off with warm water. Then, use your toner, serum, and lotion.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

Notes

If you have cuts or wounds, you should not use this remedy because the sea salt can be too abrasive on your skin.
