If you have a dry skin type, you might be painfully aware of one common trait you share with many: your skin looks more visibly aged than other skin types. Lines and wrinkles, especially if they’re premature, can be more noticeable when your skin isn’t adequately moisturized and nourished. Plus, because there isn’t as much moisture in your skin, it may not be as soft and plump as you would like it to be. As a result, those with a dry skin type may feel like they have to hide behind moisturizers and face lotions in order to maintain a good complexion.

To fix this, those with dry skin should invest in a high-quality facial lotion that supports the health and beauty of their skin, but if you want to do even more for your dry skin, home remedies are an excellent option. In fact, the 3 home remedies found below can hydrate your skin and help you obtain dewy skin in minutes. These easy DIYs can restore your skin’s natural balance so that it stays soft to the touch and visible signs of aging are greatly diminished. Even if you don’t have a dry skin type, you can use these home remedies to moisturize your skin sufficiently.

1. Aloe Vera Dab-On to Moisturize Your Skin Quickly

Arguably the most popular choice when it comes to moisturizing your skin, aloe vera has been around for thousands of years helping people minimize dryness, redness, and irritation quickly. Aloe vera can intensely moisturize your skin in a snap (because it is mostly made of water), but it can also ensure that your skin stays hydrated and healthy. This is because aloe vera contains many vitamins and minerals (such as skin-friendly vitamins A, C, and E) that can support your skin and help it look softer, dewier, plumper, and nourished. On top of that, aloe vera is inherently calming, soothing, and anti-inflammatory so it can be used by all skin types, even those with sensitive skin.

Aloe vera can be found in many skin care products, such as our facial lotions, but you can also use it straight from the source.

Ingredients

5 drops of fresh lemon juice

¼ tsp. of vegetable glycerin

½ tsp. of aloe gel

1 tbsp. of aloe juice

Instructions

Mix the ingredients together.

Dab the remedy on your skin with a cotton ball. Let the remedy dry on your skin.

Follow with your toner, serum, and lotion.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

"I have very dry skin...This [Carrot Seed Lotion] I can use twice a day. It goes on, it smells so pretty, with a kind of carrot-patchouli, just really delicious scent. And especially, if I take a minute and I roll it on the skin and really wake up the skin and make sure it absorbs, I feel great all day."

2. Vegetable Glycerin Dab-On to Hydrate & Plump Up Your Skin

Unlike aloe vera, many people are unfamiliar with vegetable glycerin and what it can do for your skin even though vegetable glycerin can be found in many skin care products on the market, even in our facial lotions. Well, vegetable glycerin is a natural ingredient that can hydrate your skin quickly because it is a humectant. As a humectant, vegetable glycerin can attract moisture towards your skin and minimize dryness. Even better, vegetable glycerin is highly versatile: it’s safe to use, it’s easily absorbed by your skin, it won’t clog your pores, and it can be used by all skin types. If your skin is naturally dry or it could use some more moisture, vegetable glycerin can help you achieve dewy, plump skin in no time at all.

3. Almond Oil Dab-On to Nourish Your Skin & Diminish Wrinkles

Another way to achieve dewy skin is by using a beauty oil on your skin. While they won’t moisturize your skin, many beauty oils are packed with fatty acids and other compounds that can greatly nourish your skin and lock your skin’s moisture in. Some beauty oils can even help you achieve a more ageless complexion. Almond oil, for instance, is an anti-aging natural ingredient that is rich in Vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids. Vitamin E is an antioxidant and thus can neutralize free radical damage done to your skin. On the other hand, omega-3 fatty acids can revitalize your skin and minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles. By combining vegetable glycerin or aloe vera with an ingredient like almond oil, dry skin will start to look softer and plumper in no time at all.

Ingredients

4 drops of almond oil

tsp. of vegetable glycerin

1 tbsp. of rosewater

Instructions

Mix the ingredients together.

Dab the remedy on your skin with a cotton ball. Let the remedy dry on your skin.

Follow with your daily skin care routine.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.
