A daily skin care routine consists of using a cleanser, toner, serum, and lotion on your face, in that order, morning and night. If you want your skin to look flawless and radiant, a daily skin care routine is a great way to start. However, if you want to do even more for your skin, you should consider following a weekly skin care routine. A weekly skin care routine is not just following your daily skin care routine; it is also using a mask and exfoliating your skin. Exfoliating is what we are going to talk about today.

For those who don’t know, when you exfoliate your skin, you are sloughing up the dead cells on the surface of your skin in order to encourage cell renewal. Although your skin can naturally remove those cells by itself, exfoliation helps speed that process up. Since exfoliation can do wonders for your skin, you might be asking why it isn’t a part of our daily skin care routine. Well, too much exfoliation may irritate your skin and leave it dry or flaky; just one to two times a week is enough, no more than that. If you are interested in exfoliating your face, continue reading to learn 10 sugar scrub remedies that can leave your skin soft, youthful, and glowing within minutes.

Caution: For all of these sugar scrub remedies, if you choose to use any of them when you are in the shower, especially the body scrub remedies, please keep in mind that they are slippery and they may become a hazard. Please be careful!

1. Sugar Face Scrub to Gently Exfoliate Dead Skin Cells

Why sugar? It may not necessarily be good for you internally, but externally, sugar can be fantastic for exfoliating your skin. One reason is its texture. Sugar consists of tiny crystals that are gentle on your skin so you can use it without worrying about irritating your skin.

Ingredients

1 tsp. of finely powdered brown sugar

1 tbsp. of sweet almond oil

Instructions

Mix the ingredients together.

Apply and massage your skin for 3 to 5 minutes. Use upward circular strokes.

Wash it off with warm water. Follow with your toner, serum, and lotion.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

Notes

You may use this particular scrub on both your face and body, but if you do use it on your face, please be very gentle.

“I use this [Nut Shell Facial Scrub] every day. I love how it exfoliates the skin and makes you look clean and fresh. I absolutely love this. I highly recommend this product.”

2. Sugar Face Scrub to Promote Cell Turnover

Another reason why sugar is a natural exfoliator is glycolic acid. Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that can deeply penetrate the skin and boost cell renewal. As a result, sugar

can be twice as effective on your skin because of its texture and its source of glycolic acid. Brown sugar is naturally high in glycolic acid, which is why you should always use it when you make a sugar scrub for yourself at home.

Ingredients

1 tsp. of finely powdered brown sugar

1 tbsp. of smooth peanut butter

Olive oil, as needed

Instructions

Mix the brown sugar and peanut butter together. Add enough olive oil to the mixture until you get the consistency of ketchup.

Apply the scrub and massage your skin for 3 to 5 minutes. Use upward circular strokes.

Wash the scrub off with warm water. Follow with a daily skin care routine based on your skin type. Click here to find out what your skin type is.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

3. Anti-Aging Wheat Germ Sugar Scrub to Diminish Lines & Wrinkles

Since exfoliation helps your skin develop newer cells, you can use a sugar scrub to reduce signs of aging such as lines, wrinkles, and age spots. Adding wheat germ oil - a superior antiaging oil due to its plentiful amount of Vitamin E - to a sugar scrub makes it even more beneficial to you, especially if you are serious about attaining soft, glowing and youthful skin.

Ingredients

1 tbsp. of mashed banana

1 tbsp. of wheat germ oil

1 ½ tsp. of finely powdered brown sugar

Instructions

Mix the banana and wheat germ oil together. Then, add the brown sugar. Continue to mix.

Apply and massage your skin with the scrub for 3 to 5 minutes. Use upward circular strokes.

Wash the scrub off with warm water. Then, use your toner, serum, and lotion.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

4. Amazing Body Scrub for More Younger-Looking Skin

Exfoliating isn’t just for your face though. You can use a sugar scrub on the rest of your skin so that it looks youthful and glowing too! Keep in mind that you should not use a sugar scrub remedy on your skin that is designed for the rest of your body. Your face is very gentle so using a remedy with a lot of sugar may cause irritation.

Ingredients

1 tsp. of Vitamin E oil

¼ cup of finely powdered brown sugar

½ cup of organic olive oil

Instructions

Mix the ingredients together.

Apply and massage your skin with the scrub for 3 to 5 minutes. Use upward circular strokes.

Wash it off with warm water, Use your daily skin care routine afterward.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

5. Avocado Face Scrub for Nourished Skin

Avocado is quite nourishing to your skin; it has vitamins and fatty acids (such as Omega-3 fatty acids) that your skin needs to stay healthy. Because your skin may be a little sensitive after using a sugar scrub, using one with avocado in it helps soothe your skin and decrease the likelihood of developing irritations.

Ingredients

1 tbsp. of avocado paste

1 tbsp. of sweet almond oil

1 ½ tsp. of finely powdered brown sugar

Instructions

Mix the avocado paste and sweet almond oil together. Then, add the brown sugar. Continue to mix.

Apply and massage your skin for 3 to 5 minutes. Use upward circular strokes.

Wash the scrub off with warm water. Follow with your toner, serum, and lotion.

Use 1 to 2 times a week.

Notes

After you finish mixing, use this sugar scrub asap. The water in avocado may make the brown sugar dissolve, which will reduce the effectiveness of this sugar scrub.

6. Rosehip Oil Face Scrub to Fade Scars, Dark Spots & for Soft, Smooth Skin

If you use a sugar scrub regularly, it can diminish the appearance of scars and help you get soft, youthful skin. If you have a scar or mark that just won’t go away, give exfoliation a try.
